Cooling water supply in automobile production
Car manufacturers use automated machinery and plants in different stages of the production process. Machines for metalforming and welding with a high degree of automation are particularly used in the press plant in which sheet metal parts for the bodywork are cut from large coils of steel or aluminium and then drawn in a servo press, bent or punched. Such machines necessitate continuous cooling water supply in order to help meet the short cycle times during production.
TASK // Central cooling water supply without delay during startup operation
This is why modern production halls have a central cooling water supply. The water is pumped through a ring main into the production hall and drawn off at various sampling points located on top of the main. Each sampling point is provided with a T-piece. The automatic machines to be cooled are connected upstream of it. To ensure that the water gets quickly to all parts of the main during startup of the plant, the high points and the end of the cooling water supply main are equipped with startup bleeding valves.

The float-controlled bleeding and venting valve EB 3.52 is the ideal solution for this highly sensitive area. During the cooling water filling procedure the valve self-actingly evacuates existing air from the main. Owing to its large seat diameter, the startup bleeding valve can drain considerable amounts of air at low pressures. Once filled with liquid, it closes in a reliable manner, and with dropping level it opens at simultaneous pressure release. The valve components of deep-drawn stainless steel are resistant to corrosion and, thanks to their comparatively low weight, particularly suitable for the cooling water ring main which is often laid below the ceiling of the production hall. The low weight saves additional fixings and facilitates assembly.
