Beverages are produced and bottled in highly automated plants. Many non-alcoholic soft drinks are carbonated, as CO2 inhibits the growth of microorganisms in the finished beverage and provides the typical refreshing tingling sensation on the tongue and palate when consumed.
The process gas is produced from a compressed gas cylinder battery by vaporizing liquefied CO2 and is then fed to the beverage filling process. A constant supply of CO2 is necessary because the proportion of undissolved gas can change if the flow rate fluctuates.
The beverage bottles pass through several filling nozzles one after the other to prevent the beverage from foaming over. They are then sealed, labeled and packed into crates.
The Mankenberg DM 555 pressure reducing valve reduces the process pressure downstream of the evaporators from 15 bar to 5 bar. The valve ensures a constant, inlet pressure-independent outlet pressure and a high reduction ratio.
The body and medium-wetted internal parts of the self-acting valve are made of 316L stainless steel with excellent corrosion resistance. The individual valve components are optimally matched to each other and ensure precise control. With the necessary connections and suitable elastomers, the DM 555 is ideally suited to the hygiene requirements of the beverage industry.
